Mubarak to visit the Gulf Tuesday

President Hosni Mubarak will head to the Gulf on Tuesday for a two-day visit, during which he will meet with officials in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain.

Soliman Awwad, presidential spokesman, told journalists on Monday talks will include reviving the peace process, security in Gulf countries, the Iranian nuclear program, and the latest developments in the Iraqi, Lebanese, Yemeni and Sudanese arenas.

The visit will also focus on boosting economic cooperation between Egypt and the Gulf, Awwad said.

Mubarak canceled a planned visit to Riyadh on Saturday following reports that Saudi King Abdullah is still recovering from a slipped disc.

Egyptian cabinet officials as well as Omar Suleiman, intelligence chief, and chief of presidential staff Zakariya Azmi will accompany the president.
