Navy rescues sinking cargo ship on Red Sea journey to Sudan

Naval forces rescued on Saturday a merchant vessel about to sink, 25 kilometers south of al-Qoseir on the Red Sea.

The ship suffered a malfunction while returning from al-Adabiya seaport to the Sudanese port of Sawaken, and was in danger of sinking.

Red Sea port sources said that the vessel Adeem was transporting young livestock from Sudan to Adabiya seaport. On her return journey, a malfunction occurred within the ship's system causing an emergency onboard.

The crew requested help from the navy, who carried out a successful rescue operation and towed the 71 meter-long, 13 meter-wide ship to Safaga.
