There will be no cabinet reshuffle, minister says

Local Development and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mohamed Attiya has told Al Jazeera Mubasher Misr and Al-Hayat channels that there would be no cabinet reshuffle.

He also said Parliament has no right to withdraw confidence from the government of Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri or change any of his ministers.

He pointed out that the information requests in Parliament were directed against the previous government and not the current one, stressing that this government did not refrain from attending the parliamentary sessions.

He also said that he is dispatching a representative to attend next session as he is traveling to Morocco. “This crisis between Parliament and the government is fabricated,” he said.

Attiya’s statements come after Parliament Speaker Saad al-Katatny said on Sunday that the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces will announce a reshuffle within 48 hours.

Prior to that, Katatny suspended sessions until next Sunday, in protest against the government whose briefing Parliament recently rejected.

The majority Freedom and Justice Party had requested that it form a new coalition government, but party officials said the SCAF declined this request.
