One man killed over gasoline brawl

A man was killed and two people injured after five assailants shot at them following an earlier fight at a Qena gas station.

The 53-year-old man was killed and his 35-year-old son wounded, as well as a 14-year-old female bystander, in Barahma village in the township of Qaft, according to a Qena Security Department statement issued Tuesday.

The statement did not specify the exact location or time of the incident.

Investigations found that five people fired the shots that hit the three victims, according to the statement. The driver's son identified the five suspected assailants and said the attack was a retaliation for a previous fight between the two parties over getting gasoline at a local station.

The statement also said the police are intensifying efforts to arrest the suspects.

Fights often break out at petrol queues amid fuel shortages across the country, some of which result in deaths or injuries.
