Petroleum min.: Active participation in election reflects sense of responsibility

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, said active participation in the voting process of the Senate election reflects deep awareness and strong sense of national responsibility among Egyptians.

He added that such a participation demonstrates their keenness to contribute to building their country’s future by choosing their representatives.

Badawi made the remarks following casting his vote on Tuesday in the Senate election at Fatma Anan School polling station in Fifth Settlement district, Cairo governorate.

The state, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, continues to work diligently on the ground to fulfill the aspirations of the people through carrying out productive projects, amidst a spirit of harmony and integration among ministries and all state institutions.

Polling stations nationwide opened their doors at 9:00 am Tuesday to receive eligible voters wishing to cast their ballots on the second and final day of voting in the Senate election.

By the end of the day, the counting of ballots will begin at each polling station.

A total of 424 candidates are contesting the individual seats—183 of them are independents, and 241 are affiliated with political parties. Additionally, there is one electoral list titled “The National List for Egypt,” which includes 200 candidates and covers the four electoral districts designated for the list-based system.
