Planning Minister: NPDEF Unprecedentedly Backed by the Political Leadership

Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala al-Saeed has said the National Project for Development of the Egyptian Family (NPDEF) is receiving unprecedented support from the political leadership due to its role in overseeing the population issue.

During a meeting to follow up on the work progress in NPDEF, the minister said the project includes an incentive programme to deal with population growth and improve the lives of citizens.

In March, 2022, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi witnessed a ceremony for launching the project.

The project is the cornerstone to address the overpopulation crisis out of a comprehensive vision including the health, social, family and economic dimensions. It will be implemented over three years based on accurate databases and active communication mechanisms with all categories of the society, which can be used for interest of the project’s activities.

During its first year, the project targeted governorates of the first phase of the presidential initiative “Decent Life”, which covers 1,520 villages.
