PM to lead Finance Ministry in national salvation government

Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzoury, who is tasked with forming the new national salvation government, presented his proposals to Hussein Tantawi, president of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, on Thursday.

The new government would include six ministers of the previous one, and establish five new ministries.

For the Interior Ministry, he proposed Mohamed Ibrahim Youssef, the former Giza governorate security director until 2000, after which he served as assistant minister for economic security for six months before former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly refused to renew his term in 2001.

Ganzoury would take the responsibility of the Finance Ministry himself, and keep the ministers of energy, international cooperation, tourism, solidarity and foreign affairs of the previous cabinet.

Among the new ministries that would be formed is the Ministry for Medical Treatment of the Revolution’s Victims and Martyrs, which would be led by a young person.

The new government’s final form is expected to be announced next week.
