Pope Tawadros II attends Armenian genocide commemoration

Pope Tawadros II travelled to Yerevan, the Armenian capital, on Monday, heading a 55-member delegation, including a number of bishops, the secretary of the Holy Synod, members of the Ethiopian Church and several representatives of the Armenian-Egyptian community, to attend the Armenian genocide centenary commemoration. 
 
Ashod Mnatsakanian, the primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Egypt, said the Egyptian delegation is the second largest after the French one. Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Francois Hollande and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades will also attend the event.
 
The commemoration includes an international forum, held on 22 and 23 April, entitled “Against the Crime of Genocide,” prayers and rememberance services for the martyrs on April 23, a ceremony at the Genocide Museum and a candlelit march in the streets of Yerevan.
 
Mohamed Saad Khairallah, founder of the Anti-Muslim Brotherhood Popular Front, has confirmed he will also atend the event.
