Port Said governor orders dispersal of pro-Morsy sit-in after man killed

Port Said governor Sameh Qandil has called on security forces to disperse a sit-in supporting ousted President Mohamed Morsy after clashes with locals left one man dead and another injured.

Qandil wants to see the protest, inside the city's Tawheed mosque, broken up after motorists and Morsy supporters clashed.

Mohamed al-Qazzaz, 55, died after receiving a shot in the neck while Mohamed Ibrahim, 17, suffered a birdshot injury in the foot and was transported to Port Said Public Hospital.

Eyewitnesses told Al-Masry Al-Youm that trucks were trying to pass through a street facing Tawheed mosque but were stopped by Morsy supporters. A fight then broke out.

The governor also gave instructions to the head of the local Endowments Department to quickly renovate the mosque.
