“Rafah Massacre” defendants jailed for insulting court

Cairo Criminal Court sentenced Adel Habara to two years and Ismail Abdel Kader to one year in prison for insulting the court. 
 
Along with 33 others, they are on trial for allegedly killing soldiers in Rafah last August and for allegedly collaborating with al Qaeda in Iraq.
 
The court was taking the testimonies of eyewitnesses but had to adjourn until 15 May when a witness, who was injured in the massacre, suddenly suffered a nervous breakdown.
 
The defendants are also charged with spying, forming a group working against the constitution and preventing state institutions and public authorities from exercising their duties, premeditated murder, destruction of public property, resisting the authorities and possessing ammunition and explosive material.
