Official reports showed that the Electricity Ministry has offered grants and bonuses to several leaders of Interior Ministry for their efforts in protecting electricity stations recently, in addition to the salaries and monthly bonuses disbursed by the Interior Ministry.
Documents from Central Delta Electricity Production Company proved that hundreds of thousands pounds are still being paid to officers, at a time when electricity companies suffer financial crises, delay in dues of workers and inability to pay debts to petroleum companies.
Al-Masry Al-Youm obtained documents by the company written on 19 November showing bonuses were offered to 21 Interior Ministry employees ranging between LE160 and LE600.
A report by Central Auditing Organization (CAO) issued in 2011 slammed the disbursement of bonuses amounting to LE89,203 million between 1 July 2010 to 31 March 2011 to Interior Ministry workers from Electricity Ministry and its companies.
Meanwhile, a source from Central Delta Electricity Production Company said the bonuses were paid to the officers illegally, however, officers whose names were included in reports are not present at sites and stations of the company.
Several workers from the ministry slammed the ongoing disbursement of the bonuses, saying their conditions are getting worse and that their bonuses have not been disbursed since 2013.
