Sources close to former presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabbahi said he is talking to the leaders of the Democratic Current, which includes the Al-Karama and Popular Current parties, the People's Socialist Alliance Party, the Constitution Party, the Egypt Freedom Party and the Justice Party, to merge them into one political front.
Mohamed Bassiouny of the Al-Karama Party said the integration would not change the internal organizational structure of each party.
Medhat al-Zahed of the People's Socialist Alliance Party said that he was one of the authors of the idea, together with Sabbahi.
In a related context, Sabbahi praised the prosecutor general for referring the officer accused of killing Shaima al-Sabbagh to court, and requested him to accept the appeal submitted by the Democratic Current, calling for continuing the investigation regarding the death of another party member, Mohamed al-Guindy.
For his part, Zahed demanded that former Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim be brought to trial for denying the police's responsibility for the killing of al-Sabbagh in Talaat Harb Square.
