Severe weather warning for Monday, EMA warns – prepare for rain and thunderstorms

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has warned of unstable weather conditions on Monday, calling for caution due to the possibility of heavy rainfall, potentially leading to flash floods in some areas.

This comes alongside a drop in temperatures across most parts of the country.

Weather maps indicate significant atmospheric disturbances, including thunderstorms impacting parts of the northern coast, the Nile Delta, Cairo, and the Red Sea mountain range.

Monday’s weather will be cool in the early morning, becoming warmer during the day across most of the country, with hot conditions expected in Upper Egypt.

Mild temperatures are expected in the early evening, turning cooler later at night across most of the country.

The EMA warned of fog which may be dense in the morning, across northern Egypt, extending to Greater Cairo, northern Upper Egypt, and central Sinai, impacting visibility on certain roads.

There is a chance of moderate to heavy rainfall, with possible thunder, in parts of the northern coast, Lower Egypt, and the Red Sea Governorate, potentially leading to flash floods in areas of Halayeb, Shalateen, and Marsa Alam.

Light rainfall is also possible in the morning, becoming moderate and possibly thunderous as the day progresses, in parts of Cairo.

Winds will be active across most of the country at intervals.

Waves in the Mediterranean Sea will be moderate to rough, with heights ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 meters, requiring caution.

In the Red Sea, the waves will be slight to moderate, with heights ranging from one to 1.5 meters. Winds will be northwesterly across most areas, shifting to northeasterly in the south.
