Shortest lunar eclipse in the 21st century seen from Luxor on Saturday

Ashraf Tadros, chairman of Astronomy Department of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, said the shortest lunar eclipse in the 21st century can be seen from Luxor on Saturday and not anywhere else in Egypt or the Arab region. “It will last for less than five minutes until the shadow of the earth recedes,” he explained.

“A lunar eclipse can only happen if it is full moon,” he said, adding that Egypt and the Arab region will see the next total eclipse of the moon on September 28, 2015.
