Sinai residents to be compensated for damage caused by pipeline explosion

The Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) will compensate North Sinai residents who were affected by last month’s attack on the gas pipeline supplying gas to Israel, said Magdy Tawfik, president of the company.

The damage to houses and agricultural land is estimated at LE320,000, and the costs will be covered by the company's insurance.

Tawfik said that the company has started repairing the damaged pipeline in order to make it operational again in two weeks, and that it has agreed with authorities to tighten security.

The pipeline has been damaged four times in terrorist attacks since February.
