Sisi apologizes over police assault against lawyer

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi expressed his sincere apology to the lawyers, over what he called an "individual incident" of assault of a lawyer by a policement last week.

"I apologize to all the lawyers and I would like to say to the state apparatus: please be careful,  in spite of the circumstances we are in," Sisi said, speaking to Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar.

"I apologize to every Egyptian citizen subjected to any abuse, as [I am] directly responsible for any harm that happens to Egyptian citizens. I say to our children in the police or in any state institution: they have to be careful, as they are dealing with human beings. Their jobs require them to be patient, because Egyptians are our relatives, no one can be cruel to their relatives," he added.

"We want to always careful, striving to be a role model," said the president.
