Sisi sends message to India PM on bilateral ties, strategic partnership

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has sent a message to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on bilateral ties and strategic partnership, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has said.

The Egyptian top diplomat met with the Indian premier Friday, during his official visit to New Delhi, spokesperson for the ministry Tamim Khallaf said.Abdelatty conveyed the greetings of president Sisi to the Indian prime minister and delivered a written message from the president to the Indian premier.

During the meeting, the foreign minister expressed pride in the remarkable development witnessed in bilateral relations between the two countries, embodied in the exchange of high-level visits and the elevation of relations to the level of strategic partnership.

Abdelatty said the eighth session of the Egyptian-Indian Joint Committee will be held during the first half of 2026, hosted by Cairo, to contribute to enhancing the level of joint cooperation in various fields.

Abdelatty also praised the launch of the first round of the strategic dialogue, stressing the commitment to holding the dialogue periodically in the two countries, alternatively.He emphasized the importance of exchanging views on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation within the framework of the new mechanism, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment fields.

Abdelatty also emphasized his interest in expanding cooperation with India in the fields of economy, trade, and investment, and working to increase the volume of trade exchange to $12 billion over the next five years. He reviewed the economic reforms implemented by the Egyptian government in recent years, including monetary policy and a flexible exchange rate system, which have contributed to improving economic performance, raising Egypt’s credit rating, and enhancing the investment climate.He stressed the importance of forming a business council between the two countries and establishing an Egyptian-Indian Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting also addressed ways to cooperate in the field of connectivity and international trade corridors, with their various political and economic dimensions, particularly in light of Egypt’s advanced infrastructure that connects the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, in addition to the pivotal role of the Suez Canal.

The minister congratulated the Indian premier on the upcoming assumption of the presidency of the BRICS group in 2026, expressing his aspiration to enhance cooperation with the group’s countries, particularly in the economic, financial, and monetary fields, to achieve development and prosperity for the peoples of the member states.For his part, Modi asked Abdelatty to convey his greetings and appreciation to President Sisi, noting his country’s pride in the close friendship with Egypt and the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Indian premier praised Egypt’s tireless efforts to support peace, security, and stability in the Middle East, appreciating the outcomes of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit, which witnessed the signing of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
