Sisi to visit Japan in November

The International Cooperation Ministry has officially announced that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will visit Japan in November.

The ministry also said in a statement that Minister Nagla al-Ahwany met with the Japanese ambassador to stress Egypt's appreciation for the people and the government of Japan, an essential partner of Egypt's development, particularly regarding renewable energy projects.

The ambassador praised the new Suez Canal project and said that Japan has carried out major projects in Egypt, particularly in the Suez Canal zone.

They also discussed a US$243 million Japanese loan for three electricity distribution companies in Cairo, the Delta and Alexandria, as well as a $14 million grant for the Abu El-Rish Children’s Hospital.

The ambassador pointed to other development projects financed by the Japanese government, such as the construction of small dams in Dirout, which were signed for in March. Other projects include the use of clean coal as an energy source and the purchasing of equipment required for the Egypt-Japan University.
