Sisi welcomes UNGA resolution calling for humanitarian truce in Gaza

CAIRO, Oct 27 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi welcomed on Friday a UN General Assembly’s resolution calling for a humanitarian truce in Gaza leading to a cessation of hostilities.

On his official social media accounts, the president welcomed the resolution that was presented by the Arab Group and shared by states keen on peace and stability.

He also hoped to halt violence in Gaza and preserve civilians’ lives as soon as possible.

The UNGA resolution, presented by the Arab Group and led by Jordan, passed with 120 votes in favor. Fourteen – including Israel and the United States – voted against it with 45 abstentions.

The resolution also demanded aid access to the besieged Gaza Strip and protection of civilians. (MENA)
