Slight drops in temperature across Egypt, August’s heat to be less severe: EMA

A member of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority’s media office, Manar Ghanem, said that the heat wave striking Egypt since two weeks ago has begun to decrease from Saturday, falling by 5C in Greater Cairo.

During a telephone interview with Al-Mehwar TV, Ghanem added that all parts of the country will witness a slight drop in temperature in the coming period.

High humidity rates will continue during the month of August, she said, but assured the rise in temperatures during the upcoming month will not be as severe and will be at intervals.

The current heat wave in Egypt is the main reason behind power outages, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said in a press statement on Thursday.

The heat wave was expected to end on Sunday but still continued, he noted, adding that August is expected to witness unprecedentedly high temperatures as well.
