Students protest Israeli Al-Aqsa violations

Thousands of students at universities throughout Egypt staged angry demonstrations in solidarity with Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinian people. The protests were initially called for by the "Students for Palestine" organization.

Protesting students expressed their rejection of what they see as official Arab passiveness in the face of Israeli violations against the mosque. Demonstrators called on Arab and Islamic governments to boycott Israeli products and cut all diplomatic relations with the self-proclaimed Jewish state. They also urged Christian churches to take a firmer stand against Israeli violations of sacred Islamic sites in Palestine. However, the capital’s two main universities — Cairo University and Ain Shams University — did not witness any student demonstrations.
