The Swiss embassy denied on Tuesday a story published by newspaper Al-Shorouk that the Swiss ambassador had been briefly prevented by authorities from boarding his flight in the Hurghada airport due to suspicion of smuggling artifacts.
Egypt Independent spoke to the media spokeswoman from the Swiss embassy over the phone who explained that the story was untrue and that Ambassador Markus Leitner had not even been to Hurghada recently.
