Temperatures of 31C-38C expected during Ramadan

Chairman of the Egyptian Metrological Authority (EMA) Ahmed Abdel Aal said on Tuesday that temperatures will range between 31C and 33C in Cairo at the outset of the holy month of Ramadan, expected to start on May 15 and end on June 14.

Abdel Aal noted that spring weather will dominate all days of the holy month.

Abdel Aal said, “Temperatures are increasing during spring while the percentage of humidity is decreasing, compared to summer. Winds will be active and could turn to storm.”

“During the first days of the holy month, temperatures will range between 31C and 33C in Cairo. They will increase to 35C for 48 hours. [After passing ten days], temperatures will range between 32C and 36C in Cairo. By end of Ramadan, temperatures will range between 35C and 38C.”

Abdel Ala advises fasting people to drink large amounts of water and juice after having their meal after sunset and abstaining from excessive walking during daylight hours.

Abdel Aal asked patients suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure to continuously visit their doctors during Ramadan.
