Temperatures continue to drop across Egypt

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) anticipates hot and humid weather to prevail on Sunday during the day across most regions, while remaining very hot and humid in southern Upper Egypt and South Sinai.

The weather will be slightly hot and humid at night and in the early morning hours, with temperatures continuing to drop across most of the country.

The EMA predicts light rain, sometimes thunderstorms, in different areas of Abu Simbel, Halayeb and Shalateen, and St. Catherine, intermittently.

Low clouds will form across the north of the country to Greater Cairo, possibly accompanied by a weak chance of very light, mild rain, with a 20 percent chance of occurrence in some areas such as Salloum, Marsa Matrouh, el-Alamein, and Alexandria.

Active winds are expected across most areas, helping to moderate the weather at night. Intermittent sand and dust storms may occur in southern Upper Egypt, South Sinai, and the New Valley.

The EMA warned of disruption to maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez, with wind speeds ranging between 40 and 60 km/h, and waves reaching two to 3.5 meters in height.

Temperatures expected for Sunday:

  • Matrouh: 30C
  • Alexandria: 31C
  • Cairo: 35C
  • Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh: 39C
  • Luxor and Aswan: 44C
