Three workers were killed and five others wounded on Tuesday when their bus collided with a truck on the Port Said-Ismailia road.
The injured were rushed to a hospital and the dead were taken directly to a morgue.
Prosecution ordered the Forensic Medicine Department to investigate the accident.
A recent report by the interior and transport ministries put the total of traffic deaths over the past five years at 33,000, blaming human error for most accidents.
