Tourist ships collide in Luxor, no casulaties

Two cruise ships–the Fustat and the Sonesta Moon Goods, carrying 119 and 97 tourist respectively– were involved in a collision, according to the Luxor Security Directorate in southern Egypt.

The accident occured close to the village of Sheikh Ahwad in the centre of Esna, as the first ship was moving towards Aswan, and the second on its way from Esna to Luxor.

Security forces rushed to the site of the accident, which caused substantial damage to the two ships. Howoever, the ships were able to start running again despite the damage, and the prosecution was notified to begin investigating the accident.
