Two people were killed and seven others were injured, including two in critical condition, after a lorry and a smaller truck collided on Shalateen-Marsa Alam coastal road, Red Sea.
Five ambulances were dispatched to the site of the incident and transferred the injured to Shalateen and Marsa Alam hospitals.
An official claim was filed with the incident, and prosecutors were notified for investigation.
Major General Ashraf Hashish, Director of the Red Sea Security, received notification of the collision of the Terra 6931 transport vehicle and transport vehicle 20686. Seven of the patients were transferred to Marsa Alam Hospital and Shalatin for treatment.
Medical sources said that the injuries include coma, fractures, post-concussion, bruises and abrasions.

According to a Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) report on 2017 accidents, accidents on roads resulted in 3,747 deaths, 13,998 injuries, and 17,201 damaged vehicles.
The report added that the main cause of accidents is the human factor, with 78.9 percent of total cases, followed by vehicle defects with 14 percent, and environmental causes (eg. road conditions) with 2 percent of total accidents.
