US presidential candidate Donald Trump, who has called for denying Muslims entry into the United States because they pose a threat to Americans, reaps millions from his business with Muslim countries.
The financial disclosure statement on his website includes investments in the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan and Turkey, in addition to two new projects in Indonesia.
Dubai:
The Trump Organization plans to build two golf resorts in Dubai for the DAMAC group to manage, one of which is scheduled to open this year.
For his part, DAMAC Vice Chairman Niall McLoughlin said on Tuesday that Trump’s statement about banning Muslims would not affect the project.
Azerbaijan:
In November 2014, the Trump International Hotel and Tower was opened in Baku. His financial disclosure statement says it generates an income of $2.5 million in administrative fees.
Turkey:
The statement says Trump granted the owners of a 40-story residential tower in Sisli, Istanbul the right to put his name on it. It said this license to use the name generates between two and five million dollars.
Indonesia:
Trump announced a few months ago that he plans to build a luxury resort in Bali and a golf course in Java, which would be his first projects in Asia. But this was not mentioned in the financial disclosure statement because it was agreed upon after the statement was published.
In response to criticism directed at him for his statement about Muslims, Trump said he does not care and called for watching mosques in the United States or even closing some of them in order to prevent another 9/11.
