Tunisian ambassador to return to Cairo Tuesday after two-month absence

Diplomatic sources have said that Tunisian Ambassador Mahmoud Khmer is returning to Cairo on Tuesday evening after a two-month vacation.

The Egyptian ambassador in Tunisia was summoned for consultation after Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki called for the release of deposed President Mohamed Morsy and the Muslim Brotherhood leaders.

Sources said Khmer was supposed to take a one-month leave but stayed two months for reasons unrelated to the political relations between the two countries.

Political sources considered the Khmer's return a goodwill gesture from the Tunisian side.
