University students continue protests across Egypt

University students in Cairo and elsewhere continued their protests on Monday, demanding the removal of senior administrative staff and the reduction of tuition costs.

Students of Ain Shams University staged protests demanding the dismissal of their president, Maged al-Deeb. They accuse al-Deeb and other faculty members of corruption. In Assiut, students of Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Dentistry also demanded the removal of their dean, Ahmed Kassem.

Al-Azhar University President Osama al-Abd decided to postpone the deadline of final exams due to the ongoing protests.

In Fayoum, students of the teachers college protested against high textbook prices. They demand reducing the prices from LE50 to LE20 per textbook.
