Gunmen attacked security forces Friday in al-Mahager, near Arish Airport, and Sukkar checkpoints, on the city’s ring road.
Eyewitnesses said they heard shots being fired near the North Sinai prosecution, located 100 meters away from the security department.
Sources said that gunmen targeted a police vehicle using RPGs and anti-tank missiles, leading to the death of a policeman and the wounding of another at the checkpoint in Sinai.
Gunmen also attacked a police station in Arish on Thursday, the source added.
Gunmen have intensified their attacks on police and the military in Arish after the ouster of President Mohamed Morsy on 3 July.
Security troops have arrested an Egyptian and a Palestinian suspected of having taken part in the attack.
