Video: Maged al-Kidwani stars in the Egyptian dub of The Cat in the Hat

Warner Bros. Animation released a promotional video revealing the voice cast for “The Cat in the Hat”, representing nine countries around the world.

In the original film, American actor Bill Hard voices the Cat, and in the Egyptian version the role is voiced by Egyptian actor Maged al-Kidwani, South Korean Cho Jung-suk, Mexican Alfonso Herrera, Italian Lorenzo Zurzolo, Brazilian Marcelo Adnet, French Ahmed Seyla, German Ralf Schmitz, and Spanish Arturo Valls.

The Cat in the Hat reintroduces one of American author Dr. Seuss’s most famous character to new generations ahead of its global theatrical release on November 6th.

The film will be released in Egypt and several other Arab countries on November 5, and boasts large ensemble voice cast, including Quinta Bronson, Bowen Yang, America Ferrera, Matt Perry, Paula Bell, and Giancarlo Esposito in the original version, while Hatem Salah and other stars feature in the Arabic version.

The film follows brothers Gabe and Sebastian, who are trying to adjust to their new life after moving to a new city, before the “Cat” appears, tasked with a special mission to bring joy and imagination back into their lives.

The opening scenes reveal a fictional institution known as the “Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration,” where Cat works, adding a completely new dimension to the world of the beloved character.

The film is directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, who sought to expand the world of “The Cat in the Hat” and give it new dimensions, while preserving the spirit of Dr. Seuss’s books, which have enjoyed widespread popularity for decades.

Reports also indicate that the film marks the beginning of a broader project to build a cinematic universe inspired by the stories of Dr. Seuss.
