The weather forecast for Monday

Meteorologists are predicting the weekend's sizzling summer heat to ease off slightly as we move into the early part of the week, with temperatures declining to a more manageable 34 degrees centigrade in Cairo on Monday. The air will feel close, however, with humidity levels remaining high.

Comparatively cool weather is expected along the north coast, with highs of 30 degrees centigrade for Alexandria and some light cloud cover along the coast.

The south will continue to see intense heat throughout Monday, with highs of 40 degrees Celsius in Qena, 40 in Luxor and 42 in Aswan.

A morning mist could mean low visibility at the start of the day along the north coast, and further inland over the delta, Cairo and towns and cities along the Suez Canal.

The prevailing wind will be northwesterly.

Waves on the Mediterranean are expected to average between two to 2.5 meters high, while the Red Sea will see waves of between 2.5 and three meters, accompanied by a northwesterly surface.
