The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts the high temperatures as part of the heatwave gripping the country to prevail on Monday, accompanied by increased humidity, which will make the perceived temperature feel between two and four degrees Celsius higher.
According to the EMA, the heatwave will begin to decline starting Sunday evening in Greater Cairo and along the northern coast.
The forecast predicts slightly hot and humid weather at night and in the early morning, with very hot and humid conditions during the day across most of the country.
The northern coast will experience hot and humid weather.
Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 31-33C along the northern coast, and between 37-38C in Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt during the daytime.
Temperatures will reach 40C in northern Upper Egypt and 43C in southern Upper Egypt, with the perceived temperature reaching 44C in the south of the country.
Weather maps warned of fog formation between four and eight am on several agricultural and highway roads, particularly those near bodies of water especially in roads leading to and from northern Egypt, Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt.
These maps indicate that the fog could be dense at times on some roads.
Satellite data also showed intermittent wind activity in various parts of the country from Tuesday to Friday, which may slightly improve temperatures in some areas.
The EMA urged citizens to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, drink plenty of water and fluids, and wear light-colored cotton clothing.
