Morsy supporters protest before Presidential Elections Commission

Supporters of Mohamed Morsy, the Muslim Brotherhood’s presidential candidate, together with supporters of former presidential candidate Abdel Moneim Abouel Fotouh, staged a protest on Tuesday in front of the Presidential Elections Commission, demanding a copy of the list of registered voters to ensure that no fraud would take place in the runoff election.

“We demanded a copy more than three weeks ago but the commission has been ignoring us,” said Nabil al-Shafei, a protester.

The Freedom and Justice Party’s legal committee had filed a lawsuit before an administrative court to compel Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, the head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, and Farouk Sultan, the head of the Presidential Elections Commission, to provide it with the list of registered voters to make sure the names of people who are not allowed to vote, such as army and police personnel, are not included.
