Sabbahi: Upcoming parliament to face major challenge

Hamdeen Sabbahi, founder of the Popular Current and former presidential hopeful, said that the upcoming House of Representatives has a major challenge, which is developing legislation to activate the recent Constitution and turn its articles into applicable laws, in addition its role in monitoring the executive authority.
 
Sabbahi added, during a meeting with the European Union's ambassador to Cairo James Moran Tuesday to exchange views on developments in Egypt, that the political forces of 25 January and 30 June seek unity ahead of the parliamentary elections to face the remnants of the regimes of toppled presidents Hosni Mubarak and Mohamed Morsy.
 
Sabbahi stressed the importance of the EU's participation in the economic conference to be held in Sharm al-Sheikh next March, pointing out that economic growth must be accompanied by social justice.
 
The Egyptian economy is witnessing an improvement in macroeconomic indicators and the EU is keen on supporting it, Moran mentioned.
