Salma Hayek ends visit to Lebanon

Despite her Lebanese origins, Mexican actress Salma Hayek had not visited her hometown since her childhood, until last Saturday. She was in Lebanon until Tuesday.

Apart from screening her animated film "The Prophet", which was her directorial and production debut, Hayek, 48, visited the birthplace of poet Khalil Gibran, the inspiration for her film.

Hayek took pictures beside the statue of the Lebanese poet. She also visited her grandfather's house.

The actress was emotionally moved during her visits to a children's cancer center and a camp for Syrian refugees and praised the courage of both refugees and sick children.

Hayek was warmly welcomed by the locals and was accompanied during her visit by a number of Lebanese actors, as well as director Nadin Labaky. She concluded her visit with a speech on the red carpet, expressing hope that her new film would bear a message of love to her fans.
