A Facebook page dedicated to the history of Egypt's second city, Alexandria, has posted rare photographs showing how life looked at the start of the 20th century.
The "Alexandria 1900" history blog boasts a range of sepia images capturing the stylish European architecture of the city center, along with near-empty streets and smart horse carriages.
The featured locations include: "Avenue Port Rosette", "La Bourse", "Boulevard Ramlch", "Place de Consul", "Tribunal Mixte" and the "Casino S. Stefano".
The port itself is also displayed, complete with vintage steam ships ready to carry passengers across the Mediterranean.
Perhaps most revealing are the images of the "College Saint-Marc", the city's French Roman Catholic school, which still functions today.
The vintage photos show the school's neat and orderly dining hall, dormitories, classrooms, science laboratory and infirmary exactly as they looked a century ago.
