265 Muslim Brotherhood protesters arrested

The Interior Ministry said on Friday that it arrested 265 Muslim Brotherhood protesters in demonstrations across Egypt.

Those arrested allegedly possessed Molotov cocktails and leaflets calling for the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, according to police.

In a press release, the ministry added that those arrested allegedly carried out riots, blocked roads, assaulted citizens and security forces and used weapons.

Police also said that a number of police officers were injured, including the deputy head of Minya Security Directorate, and three police cars were torched.

Earlier this week, the Egyptian military-backed government declared the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization in reaction to the Mansoura bombing. Though a terrorist organization known as Ansar Bayt al-Maqdes claimed responsibility for the attack, the government has placed the blame squarely on the Brotherhood. Evidence has yet to come forth, linking the Brotherhood to the bombing.
