50 injured in attack on FJP headquarters in Tanta

Fifty were injured in violent confrontations after hundreds of protesters attempted to break into the Freedom and Justice Party headquarters in Tanta on Monday.

Protesters hurled stones at the building to decry the injury of eight members of the revolutionary forces during clashes that took place between leftists and the Brotherhood on Sunday. They accused the Brotherhood of firing tear gas back at them in return.

The Brotherhood claimed that their political office’s headquarters was attacked by thugs, and members of the Brotherhood confronted the attackers, made citizens’ arrests and turned the offenders over the police.

Some store facades were smashed during the incident, and traffic was blocked on several main streets in Tanta.
