The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) bloc walked out of parliament's national security committee session Wednesday, when MP Badr Eddin el-Qadi (a former police officer) insulted them for interrupting him while he was criticizing Hamas with foul language in his speech.
The session was discussing the steel barrier that Egypt is building along its border with the Gaza Strip.
House speaker Fathi Sorour decreed that El-Qadi's foul remarks be omitted from the minutes of the meeting, while independent representatives asked to refer El-Qadi to a disciplinary committee.
The MB bloc members also clashed with the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) representative Nashaat el Qassas during the session.
NDP Organization Secretary Ahmed Ezz failed to calm the members down.
NDP representatives also requested Al-Dostour Party representative Mohamed el-Omda be referred to a disciplinary committee for tearing up his interpellation on the steel barrier and throwing it in Sorour's face.
The representatives continued to clash with each other after the session ended.
