Antiquities chief cracks down on vendors in Old Cairo street

Mostafa Amin, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), has called on police to deal with encroachments by street vendors and shop owners at Al-Moez Street in Old Cairo. The street contains hisorical Islamic sites under the protection of the SCA.

Amin called in the Tourist Police during a surprise inspection of the area on Tuesday.

Al-Moez Street was inaugurated last year as the largest open museum of historical Islamic monuments in Egypt.
