Authorities find rare 250-kg turtle at butcher

Food commodities inspectors on Monday found a huge, rare turtle at a butcher in Alexandria, where the owner was preparing to slaughter it and sell its meat.
Authorities had received reports that a butcher in Alexandria's Gomrok district had been displaying a 250-kg marine turtle after catching it.
The inspectors confiscated the turtle and gave it to the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, which put it in an aquarium.
Experts who examined the turtle estimated that it is more than 90 years old.
