Bomb explodes outside Foreign Ministry office in Cairo

A bomb exploded outside a public service office affiliated with the Foreign Ministry in Mohandessin, west of Cairo on Sunday, a security source has said.

No casualties have been reported, according to the source, who said that the bomb was apparently targeting security troops deployed outside the office.

The blast came a few hours after a bomb was defused outside the embassy of Ghana in the same district.

Egypt has witnessed a series of bombings targeting security forces and public utilities since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in 2013. Authorities say the Muslim Brotherhood masterminded most of the attacks.

The Foreign Ministry’s headquarters near downtown Cairo were rocked by an IED explosion last September, which killed three policemen.
