Civil defense forces put out a fire that broke out Wednesday at the Mar Girgis Church in the Manshiyet al-Sadr area, injuring four.

The four people were transferred to hospitals, but no deaths were reported.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire was potentially caused by an electrical circuit that shorted out. The fire reportedly gutted the contents of one of the main halls, but firefighters managed to put out the blaze before it spread to other parts of the church or to neighboring buildings.

A report was filed with Civil Protection, and prosecutors will also begin preliminary investigations into the fire.
