The curfew was initially imposed following the forced dispersals of mass, pro-Morsy sit-ins on 14 August. The curfew was then reduced on 19 Septmeber from 11 pm – 5 am to 12 am – 5 am. The Friday curfew has been maintained as Fridays continue to be a day of protests calling for the reinstatement of former President Mohammad Morsy.
