Egypt has transferred LE21 million (US3.46 million) to the Canal Electricity Distribution Company to assist the Gaza Strip with its power needs, Arab League Deputy Secretary General for Palestinian Affairs Mohammed al-Sabih said on Wednesday.

“The transfer came in the right time,” Sabih said, explaining that the electricity crisis in Gaza has worsened over the past months due to the Israeli siege, the closing of border crossings and the banning of fuel supply.
