The Egyptian Consumer Protection Agency referred ten satellite channels and ten telemarketing companies to the public prosecutor on Sunday, on charges of disseminating misleading commercials to viewers.

After receiving many complaints from citizens against invalid products marketed and sold over the phone, the agency specifically warned against buying medical products that are not registered with the Health Ministry.

“We saw a commercial for an unregistered product for the treatment of delayed childbearing,” said CPA director Atef Jacob. “Other products were for diets.”
