Final results: NDP wins sweeping parliament majority

Final parliamentary election results showed that the ruling National Democratic Party won 440 seats out of 508 possible seats. The liberal opposition Wafd Party, which officially withdrew from Sunday's run-offs, won six seats. Wafd winning candidates included Safir Nour, Mosaad al-Meligy, Magda al-Noweishy, Mohamed al-Malky, Atef al-Ashmony and Tarek Sabbaq.

The leftist opposition Tagammu Party won five seats. Their winners included Mohamed Abdel Aziz Shaaban, Raafat Seif, Ahmed Suleiman, Abdel Hamid Kamal and Abdel Rashid Helal.

The opposition parties of Al-Ghad, Al-Gil, Al-Salam and Social Justice won one seat each .

The Muslim Brotherhood opposition group won a seat for Mohamed Ashour, who had entered the run-offs despite the group’s decision to withdraw.

Clashes had erupted between candidate supporters in various governorates, causing two deaths and 22 injuries.
