FM meets with members from Council on Foreign Relations

Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy, who is in New York to head Egypt’s delegation at the UN General Assembly, met with members of the Council on Foreign Relations, an independent think tank with ties to decision-making centers in the US.

During the meeting, Fahmy discussed the political, economic and security developments in Egypt, emphasizing the desire of Egyptians to build a genuine, modern democracy.

Fahmy also tackled Egyptian-American relations and Egypt's position on several regional and international dossiers, including relations with Iran and the developments in Syria.

Meanwhile, the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy called for protests on Tuesday in front of the UN headquarters to reject Fahmy’s visit to the UN as a representative of the Egyptian state.

In a statement published on Facebook, the alliance said the call to protest expresses the Egyptian people’s rejection of the coup and the institutions, authorities and committees it formed.
